- Yes, we’ll be reviewing the movie.
No, not tonight- Pylorns still hasn’t seen it because he wussed out on seeing it this weekend.
The short version of the review is- believe the hype. It is that good.
- So, Myspace is getting hit by spammers/spyware douchebags.
See, it seems that people are creating myspace profiles then adding these pictures to them that would make the average unsuspecting IE user think they have to install a Windows update.
This would be great… if I weren’t using Firefox in Leopard. Naturally, I picked up on the ruse.
Fucking spammer douchebags. See, I know- I KNOW- I’ll have to fix this on my dad’s computer at some point since his family can’t figure out not to click on every damn popup that comes along. That’s going to be fun to fix- AGAIN.
Out.

One of the posts disapeared this morning, not sure what happened - I went to turn the comments back on and the post just disappeared. Anyway, commments are back on and you have to have a typekey account to comment. That should clear up some of the spam.

Ok due to the high volume of junk comments we’ve been getting lately - 100+ per day. Even through they are all junk comments someone still has to deal with them. I’ve turned off the commenting system. This will be until wetwired is relaunched with new code. I’d be looking for it to happen sometime next year. Maybe this year If I get time but at the rate things are going, i wouldn’t expect it. Been too damn busy with life!
…………………………………………………
And Now…. The Addendum from Finley…
163.
That’s the largest number of spam comments I’ve deleted in one sitting. Not one day, mind you. One SITTING.
Normally, I’d comment upon this but with that turned off, I’m forced to add my thoughts here. And, y’know what?
Totally in agreement with the Chief, here. We’ve been dealing with an escalating problem, and banning the fuckers that have been doing this hasn’t been enough.
We’re sorry to have to do this. I personally wish turning off the comment feature wasn’t absolutely necessary. But for now, feel free to register and post any comments in the Forums.

So, I get home after being out with Py and his father today. We went up to the Scarborough Faire south of Dallas, and had a good time. I go to the Wetwired Moveable Type site, to check for any additional comments and such.
There were, in fact 29 additional comments posted since this morning. Every single one of them was a spam posting. Every one of them was deleted.
…
Fuck this. I’m sick of the whole “bigger penis/Phentermine/calling card/cheap prescription drugs and boner pills/fake Rolex” crap. The thing that makes cleaning out this crap worse is that you know- you KNOW- the scumbags that put this shit out there do it because some clueless jagoff out there actually CLICKS ON THEM.
Shit like this makes me want to go Jeremiah Johnson on the World Wide Web and say “fuck it all” to the Internet. It just pisses me off.
Out.

I’ve changed my settings to be more aggressive on trackbacks and to junk just about everything - and it will delete anything after 2 days because today I logged in and had 2000 Trackbacks for spam in a 10 day period.

Anyone else get tired of moderating constant trackbacks and comments? Do the captchas work well enough? Do you guys have them running on MT 3.2? I’m getting hammered lately and I have to clean out the trackbacks and comments nearly daily - they are all in the spam or junk folder but damn this is getting old. What are you guys doing about it?
