There is Black and There is White : The Two Party System

I really shouldn’t have to point out that this is satire, but for those of you who don’t get it.  It is.

Presidential Debate = Lame

Wetwired Time Friday, September 26th, 2008 at 8:46 pm by pylorns

So far, neither candidate has answered a question that was asked.  Both Obama and McCain continue to dance around the questions.

“What would you have to cut or concede in your plans as president with the 700 billion bailout and the economy tanking?”

Obama: “I’m sure we’d have to cut something but here’s what I’d spend…”

McCain: “I’d cut spending.”

Thanks for answering the questions both you jackasses.  They are throwing around the same things and answering questions by not answering them at all.

Obama accused McCain of taxing employers the health plans, McCain didn’t refute it.  He talked about how Obama was putting in 900 million in earmarks.  What the hell does that have to do with taxing healthcare?

McCain accuses Obama from increasing spending.  Obama says he’s cutting taxes for 95% of Americans, but he does not address his actual tax increases.

Congress is working to Tax you more.

Right now they are working to give more money, 700 billion dollars away to the very institutions that put us in this bind to begin with. Not only that there has been talk of securing companies like U.B.S. (United Bank Swiss). That’s right your tax dollars will go to pay for another countries failed company. If you haven’t already contact your local congressman. I plan on finding out information on all of them that vote for this bill.

What will it take for the US to drill its own land again?

Wetwired Time Tuesday, July 1st, 2008 at 8:34 am by pylorns

Recently, several key officials and key military personnel in Iran have threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz if they are attacked by Israel. Or they just might close it because they are pissed with the world. Now, given that 40% of the world’s oil passes through this strait currently, you can imagine the type of problem that would cause. Lets also discuss what would happen is a US backed Israel attacked Iran. A major concern is that China and Iran are very good buddies, and while China may frown on Iran closing down the straight, they most likely would not go to war with the US and Israel. But, they could impose sanctions on the US. Although it would hurt the Chinese economy since the majority of Chinese exports come to the US, they would do it out of political and strategic spite to bend the US to coming to some sort of quick agreement to not back Israel.

So what is the fall out? The American economy will plunge into darkness. If Chinese sanctions are imposed on exports Wal-Mart will close up shop very quickly, followed suit by many other large retailers like Kmart, Sams, and Ikea would suffer, while they are a Swedish store, the majority of their products are made in China. Ikea does not first ship their product from China to Sweden they ship from China to the US. So there would have to be some creative shipping involved. Granted the US is not Ikea’s only country they sell to, but it would hurt their profits because Americans are some of the top consumers of Ikea products.

Forget about $4/gallon gas try $8/gallon. How can you work at McDonalds making $9/hr when it costs you your entire pay check to fill your car up twice in one week? Let’s assume you take $1440 home a month, you need to subtract $640 in gas if it was at $8/gallon.

How long do you think it will take to club a couple baby seals in Alaska to drill for oil now? How about drilling off the coast of Florida?

In case you missed it…

Barak Obama is the presumptive nominee for the Democratic Party.  In other news, Hillary is 20 million dollars in debt from her run in which she tried to poison and take everyone down.

Presidential Candidates Website Comparisons

Wetwired Time Monday, February 18th, 2008 at 5:10 pm by pylorns

Marketing in presidential campaigns on the internet is becoming more important as the years go on. The 2008 presidential campaign is no exception. So lets talk about how the Presidential Candidates add up when it comes to the best web design. There are some consistent themes throughout all of the websites in that they all have a top banner that has their states they are campaigning in, the issues they stand on, and their online stores where you can by all of their campaign swag. The differ somewhat in color choice, additional content and layout. Albeit many of their layout themes are similar. So I’m going to quickly talk about each website and how I feel they rank as far as aesthetic quality.

First up is Barak Obama’s website. I’ll remind you that even though I’m ranking his website as the top website out of all of the candidates, I do not endorse him, nor will I vote for him. I’m one of those crazy Ron Paul supporters. Barak’s website is one of the few websites that has a dynamic lighted background with some sort of transparent images. His picture is blended in perfectly with the rest of the background in the title bar.

Next up is Ron Paul’s Site, similar in look but what makes Ron Paul’s stand out is the donation meter. it has always been a central part to the site and may be one of the reasons why he continues to keep getting donations.

Mccain has a black site but its similar to the others not much to comment on…

Blah..

“Commuted.”

Wetwired Time Wednesday, July 4th, 2007 at 3:09 am by Finley

He commuted the sentence of Scooter Libby. Despite everything saying “leave this alone,” he did it.

Fuck.

Y’know what, folks? I’m done with him. I voted for him twice, both times eagerly. Hell, I’ve defended those two votes on multiple occasions when I lived in Austin. But after George W. Bush commuted the sentence of Libby yesterday, thus damning my party’s chances of taking either Congress or the presidency in 2008 or any year any time soon for his own political motivations (or more to the point, Cheney’s motivations), I’m done with him.

Bad enough that the man can only speak coherently in public when he’s so tightly scripted that the word “airtight” comes to mind. Bad enough that the only proof he can give that the “war on Terror” is succeeding is by saying “Well, there haven’t been any attacks since 9/11.” Bad enough that the letters “WMD” have had to become a punchline given the joke that is the invasion of Iraq.

Bad enough he politicized 9/11. (That’s the one that really sickened me.)

Now, he’s ruined any chance of the party that I loved, the party of Reagan and Lincoln, to retake the White House in 2008 because he couldn’t keep his political dick in his pants long enough to realize that he was screwing over his own party with it.

It doesn’t matter if Scooter Libby was a fall guy or not. It doesn’t matter, because he became much more than that. He became a symbol of an Administration that has made every political battle personal and ugly, and that has used every bit of influence within its power to retain said power. Bush has managed to find every wrong step in the Scooter Libby affair, and it’s fairly obvious that the short-sightedness of this move took into account nothing involving what would happen beyond the initial “Hey, Scooter’s free! Heh heh.” I’m convinced that sometime in the next few weeks, someone high up will resign from the White House staff for”personal reasons.” I’m expecting that person to be the one man or woman who stood up and said “Hey, this is an incredibly bad idea and this is why.”

Congratulations, Dubya. You’ve managed to completely fuck over the Republican Party, and the American People in one fell swoop. In the process, you’ve alienated a man who had never even once considered abandoning the party he loved until now.

Fuck you.

Out.

Of want and need

Wetwired Time Friday, September 29th, 2006 at 9:44 pm by pylorns

Every time I come back to Louisiana, I’m struck with a bit of sadness when I look at the people who have, and yet still have their hands out. There are no more have not’s in this country. And the ones that are haves and have their hands out, are completely complacent in their intent to *not* increase their stature in this world. They will always have their hands out and do not know what it is like to have not.

Lets face it, we have not had the “have nots” since the great depression. We owe this to the great government programs which were meant to only be temporary and now are taken for gospel.

Why should I help someone who will not help himself? And why does that person and everyone else claim that they are a victim of the system, when it is the system itself that has given them the free home, free car, free food in which they have. Trek back 70 years and you will find that this abundance of giving did not exist. These people knew what hardship truly was. The people of the great depression, the men who committed suicide because they could not take the thought of looking at their families and not being able to provide for them. Today, some men would rather sit at home, and talk about how the government is so bad for them.

We celebrate the lives of great people every day, which brought our country to where it is, like FDR, JFK, and Martin Luther King Jr. But where are our leaders like them today? Where are the men who are not whining about not being treated fairly? Where are the men that will stand up and do something for themselves for a change? Who will be educated, up standing, salt of the earth men? When will this perpetual cycle of victimized burnt my lap coffee, smoked a pack a day sue the company for my own stupidity society figure out that the problem with this country is WE THE PEOPLE.

How many people out there can even complete the first sentence of the Declaration of Independence? Hell, how many can complete 2 sentences? Are our children even taught history at all anymore? Or is it turned into those politically correct story tales?

Do you ever wonder why we keep idolizing movies of WWII, and talk about how it was the Great Generation. Why we have movie after movie about a war and a generation that is nearly gone? It’s because that Generation was the last of the people who did for themselves. Our generation, generation X or Y or whatever you want to call us, have it all, we know not what it is like to come from nothing. We’ve never suffered from the problems they had. We’ve never had a common enemy, or had a common call to duty like that felt during WWII. Sure we’ve had 911 and an attack upon our soil by terrorists, but nothing like that generation. When an entire country was in a WAR economy, when everything was rationed in order to out manufacture, out produce, out ship the enemy. Neither have we as a generation, nor our parents had to experience that. And we idolize that, we wish to turn back the clock, and yet, not enough to give up our materialistic natures. Because that’s what we are.

What will it take for the world to come about, for the United States to come about and realize the true problems that need fixing, have to start here, with our people, not with some nation halfway around the world. They will continue to blow each other up, always have, and always will. We being there will not solve anything. Our press lying to us won’t solve anything either. But that’s neither here nor there.

Take stock, look around you, what is it around you that you really need? That you really just want? Do you need the push toy, the cube goodies, the digital camera, the 4 TVs, the satellite radio, the 45 pairs of shoes? You know women in WWII era painted lines on their legs so as to look like they had stockings. The rationing of nylon went to make material, and parachutes. Could you go without?

Ultimately what will it take for our country, and people to wake up? Kill the middle class.

What do I mean by that? Stay tuned for part II.

Even More Katrina Abuse

Wetwired Time Wednesday, July 19th, 2006 at 8:58 am by pylorns

WASHINGTON - The Homeland Security Department wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars last year on iPods, dog booties, beer-making equipment and designer jackets, congressional investigators have concluded.

More than 100 laptop computers and a dozen boats also bought by Homeland Security employees are missing, the investigators found.

Poor training, lax oversight and rampant confusion over what employees are allowed to buy with government-issued purchase cards left Homeland Security “vulnerable to fraud, waste and abuse,” according to a draft report by the Government Accountability Office, Congress’ investigative and auditing arm.

The report was to be released Wednesday by a Senate panel that oversees the department.

Senators said more than 10,000 Homeland Security employees carry purchase cards for business-related expenses — with a spending limit that was raised to $250,000 for emergencies after Hurricane Katrina hit last Aug. 29. Aides said the audit covered expenses for a five-month period both before and after Katrina.

But investigators found that employees received scant training on how to use the cards, were given little or lax supervision and were told to follow spending guidelines that differed among the 22 agencies that make up the department.

The department spent $435 million with the purchase cards in the 2005 budget year, compared to $296 million in 2004, Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke said Tuesday evening. But he said only a fraction of the expenses were improper, noting that the department has disciplined about 70 employees amid 1.1 million purchases.

“Comparatively, we’re talking about a small number of bad apples,” Knocke said.

Among the expenses that investigators described as abusive or otherwise questionable:

_More than 2,000 sets of dog booties, costing $68,442, that have sat unused in storage since emergency responders decided they were not suited for canines assisting in Gulf Coast recovery efforts.

_Three portable shower units for $71,170 from a contractor who investigators said overcharged the government. Customs and Border Protection agents could have gotten similar showers for nearly a third of the price — and faster.

_12 Apple iPod Nanos and 42 iPod Shuffles, worth $7,000, for Secret Service “training and data storage.” Because the Shuffles cost less than $300, the Secret Service said they were not required to track them to ensure they were used properly.

_37 black Helly Hansen designer rain jackets, costing nearly $2,500, for use in a firing range that the Customs and Border Protection purchaser later acknowledged shuts down when it’s raining.

_Conference and hotel rooms at a golf and tennis resort at St. Simons Island in Georgia, worth $2,395, for training 32 newly hired attorneys when they could have used a nearby federal law enforcement training center.

_A beer brewing kit and ingredients for more than $1,000 for a Coast Guard official to brew alcohol while on duty as a social organizer for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. “The estimated price for a six-pack of USCG beer was $12,” the investigators noted, adding: “Given that the six-pack cost of most beers is far less than $12, it is difficult to demonstrate that the Academy is achieving cost savings by brewing its own beer.”

Investigators also noted that Customs and Border Protection wasted up to $464,586 by buying meals-ready-to-eat over the Internet instead of contracting through the Pentagon, as is standard procedure. And they found that the Federal Emergency Management Agency cannot locate 107 laptops, 22 printers and two GPS units worth $170,000. FEMA also cannot find 12 of 20 boats the agency bought for $208,000.

Knocke, the Homeland Security spokesman, said the department will begin enforcing new spending guidelines in the next several weeks that should eliminate much of the confusion and make sure buys are strictly supervised. Violators could have their cards taken away, be forced to repay expenses and face disciplinary action, he said. “We take very seriously our responsibility to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars,” Knocke said.

The senators who ordered the investigation — Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Joe Lieberman, D-Conn. — described Homeland Security as negligent in preventing the shopaholics among its ranks. The two lead the Senate’s Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Homeland Security “left the door wide open for these abuses,” Collins said.

Added Lieberman: “That is hard to believe.”

And Now…This Week’s Way To Tell Your Political Leader or Hero Is a Complete Idiot.

Wetwired Time Sunday, February 5th, 2006 at 1:25 am by Finley

If your political leader/hero decides that comparing George Bush to Hitler is not only a good idea, but something that should be done in public, that that person is a complete fucking idiot.

Y’know, if Hugo Chavez wants to get any kind of traction in the geopolitical theater he needs to start taking some Zoloft or something. Then again, maybe he could instead use a history lesson or two.

It’s stuff like this that makes the conspiratorialist in me wonder if Hugo Chavez is only still in power because anything and everything he says not only makes hmself look like a complete fucknut, but also makes our own president look like a complete poiitical genius in comparison.

If that doesn’t convince you that this guy is a total loser, consider that media whore/ “political activist” Cindy Sheehan says she wants to meet with him. (As an aside, is there ANY cause Cindy Sheehan won’t glom onto and make it about her? You can’t seriously tell me it’s about her son anymore. She lost that claim when she decided to run for the Senate, if not long before then.) That pretty much should say it all.

Out.
