Nancy Pelosi: I hate you
posted by pylornsAside from being one of the most liberal socialists in our politics, and the fact that she wipes her ass with the constitution on a daily basis, she now of course says that our immigration law is un-american. Yeah, you know at a time when illegals are blitzing across the boarder, drug cartel violence is running rapid she makes this statement.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently told a group of both legal and illegal immigrants and their families that enforcement of existing immigration laws, as currently practiced, is “un-American.”
The speaker, condemning raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, referred to the immigrants she was addressing as “very, very patriotic.”
“Who in this country would not want to change a policy of kicking in doors in the middle of the night and sending a parent away from their families?” Pelosi told a mostly Hispanic gathering at St. Anthony’s Church in San Francisco.
“It must be stopped….What value system is that? I think it’s un-American. I think it’s un-American.”
Pelosi said she was invited to the church by Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., as part of his 17-city, cross-country tour called United Families, which he says is intended to put a human face on the immigration debate.
“We think that families are the cornerstone of our society and our nation, and an immigration system should preserve those families, not destroy them,” Gutierrez told FOX News Capitol Hill Producer Chad Pergram on Tuesday.
The congressman is collecting petitions that ask President Obama to “stop the immigration raids and deportations that are tearing our marriages, families and children apart.” He is expected to present those petitions when Hispanic members of Congress meet with the President Wednesday.
On Saturday night, Pelosi joined Gutierrez before a cheering crowd at St. Anthony’s chanting, “Si se puede,” or “Yes we can.”
Referring to work site enforcement actions by ICE agents, Pelosi said, “We have to have a change in policy and practice and again … I can’t say enough, the raids must end. The raids must end.
“You are special people. You’re here on a Saturday night to take responsibility for our country’s future. That makes you very, very patriotic.”
“I was embarrassed by what she said,” said Rick Oltman, with Californians for Population Stabilization, an anti-illegal immigrant group. “Exhorting illegal aliens for taking responsibility for our country’s future…. In fact, sitting there in the audience…. I really resented that comment.”
“I think it was pandering to the crowd but also insulting to American citizens who consider themselves to be patriotic, who obey the rule of law,” said Oltman, who shot a video of the rally.
She is insulting all the rest of the law-abiding citizens of the United States.

And will Ms. Pelosi ‘Put a face’ on the families of federal law enforcement agents who could lose their jobs … homes, etc. if her opinion becomes policy? These law enforcement agents are acting on judges orders to enforce laws duly enacted by congress to serve a country they love, even when they may find it personally difficult to do so. Why penalize those who are enforcing the rule of law and who believe in the rule of law for those who have shown a disdain and disrespect for that same body of laws? There are many people who are interested in immigration reform but who also support immigration enforcement because there are good reasons for those laws to have been established and for them to continue to exist and ro be enforced.
If Pelosi and others dislike the current laws, there are processes in place to change those laws. Pelosi’s vocal say-so is just simply not sufficient. Interfering with the court system and law enforcement is disrespectful both the the hard-working officers involved as well as to our constitutional legal system as a whole.

Just to play a little liberal devil’s advocate here, I think it is un-American to assume that someone doesn’t have the right to a life in the United States. I don’t believe Pelosi is in any way against the law enforcement officers doing their jobs, nor is she standing in the way of them doing so. She is saying that she feels the policy should change.
No one in my family has been in the US more than three generations. To my knowledge every single family member of mine moved here to escape war, or famine, or persecution, and gained legal status. No one looked at the decision to leave behind everything they knew and resettle in a country with a different language and culture, where they would be entirely alone, as a whim. They did so because they had to. For as much as these patriots are saying America is the greatest country on Earth, I am always surprised that they are so unsympathetic to people who emigrate because they, too, think that America full of opportunities they have no access to at home.
Our economy is down, job opportunities for skilled, trained workers are waning, but most Americans still face very little threat of starving, or being murdered or raped or kidnapped. Instead of worrying about individuals coming here to take from us, why are we not more concerned about businesses and industry leaving us because there are people more desperate for work in other countries than ours’?

Yes Marie, but your background did it right, your family became legal citizens. There is immigration which is fine and there is illegal immigration. There in lies the distinction.

Yes, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to gain citizenship, or even to get work visas. People here legally on student or H-1B visas are often encouraged to continue renewing these visas rather than gaining citizenship, and after so many rounds of this paperwork are deported. It is no longer a matter of paying for a ticket and signing your name at the gate, the process of gaining citizenship in the US is now unnecessarily long and brutal.

Do you know that those illegals are because of all the arms smugling exported from the united states and specially because of the drug appetite from all the red necks in the south

The only true americans are the natives, the only true Tejanos are the hispanics, to educate yourself and read the list of those who died at El Alamo, the only ones listed as true Tejanos and born in the Repiblic of Cohauila-Tejas were Hispanics, the rest were implants from other states and other European countries.

People are forgetting the reason this web-site exists. It’s because we can’t stand this elitist excuse for a politician forcing her pathetic views on others!
We the people need to vent our frustration here, so give us a break all you critics of our freedom of expression!

Hey, uhm… JQ?
Hi, Finley here. One of the editors of the site, primary contributor and a guy who was around for the origins of the site.
And you’re full of shit.
See, the site doesn’t exist for you to vent your frustrations. Truth be told, we’ve turned off comments several times in the past. The site, you see, has a sole function.
It’s for US (y’know, the writers and editors of Wetwired) to talk about what we damned well please.
Now, in this case my boy Py threw out a commentary on something Pelosi wrote, one of our other columnists gave her opinion in the comments, and in general we’ve gotten comments on both sides. However, the nice part about the site is that under no circumstance are we promoting free speech for anyone on this site except for us. Trust me, I’ve deleted enough spam comments to prove free speech don’t stand for dick here.
Just sayin’, is all.

Oh baby. Fin, you can abridge my freedom of speech any time.

Obviously I CAN and DID vent them!
Whether or not you did or did not take them off the site is not relevant. I still vented.

Yes, and nice to see you missed the point. Well played, sir. Well played.

“Steelers01, the real question is – would you do the jobs that some of them are doing now?”
pylorns, im not sure where you live, but where i am, (NC) i can take you to housing developments and show you illegal immigrants pouring the foundations, doing the framing, doing the roofing, doing the drywall, doing the painting, doing the tile, doing the stone work, and doing the landscaping…and yes we (americans) do want these jobs. i dont blame the immigrants for wanting the work, or for doing the work, i blame this fucked up system that allows AMERICAN companies to pay them half what the work is actually worth…if america forced equal wage rights for immigrants, this whole problem would go away…most people dont really want illegals building their homes…
