iTunes could not sync mail accounts to the iPhone because the iPhone canceled the sync

This is a problem with the permissions on your iphone after jailbreaking.  

1. Open Cydia and download Boss Prefs.

2. Open Boss Prefs

3. Choose More

4. Click on Fix User Dir Prefs

    I always do that exact thing after a restore. I guess it’s another thing to add to your next tutorial.

    Alternatively just run

    chown -R mobile /var/mobile/Library/Mail

    this error also in the same time will not allow to create new Email Accounts – on the iPhone.
    It’s possible to create the account and also save the account on the iPhone but as soon the System Settings Mail Creation is closed then the account will disappear and lost.
    May someone else has this problem so this is the cure for it.

    thanks. the chown works well even on iPhone 1.1.3
    but I’d like to know how to sync my email boxes which do exist ONLY in my iPhone and I’d like to backup before upgrade.
