Mixed Thoughts.
posted by FinleyA few items of note:
- the new podcast is recorded and being mixed. It’s out tenth podcast, and our longest yet at over 40 minutes. I think you’ll like it.
- We’re working on some ideas for regular posting. Beerslinger himself has come up with some really rather nifty ideas, and I like what he has in mind.
- We have some new readers joining us, too. Hello, world. Sorry about the floor. We didn’t know we’d have company, otherwise we’d have cleaned up a bit.
- I’m heading down to Wetwired Central (Austin, for the newbies) for the holiday weekend on Thursday. Should be fun.
- Lemme see, what else did I want to talk about…
Oh, yeah. Wesley Clark being a grand high poobah asshole.
Okay, look. Wes- can I call you Wes? I mean, I’d refer to you as General but that would imply some level of respect that you so clearly don’t have for others, so why should I show it here?
Wessy-poo, you were doing SO WELL with what you said, and up to a point you were absolutely right- being in command in the military doesn’t give you the same experience as being commander-in-chief. (I mean, that’s what got you knocked out of the 2004 run, right?) Not only that, but if you’d have just stopped there you could have been seen as a possible contender for a high-level position in the Obama presidency, maybe even the cabinet, right?
But then, well… then you fucked up, as always.
“I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president”
…
…
Okay, never mind that this shows such tremendous tactlessness that to call witness to such would be redundant. Never mind that you were Army, and he was Navy, and there’s always been this pissing match between the two branches. Never mind that one could make the argument that McCain’s experience in politics timewise runs circles around Barack Obama’s. Even with all that in mind… HE WAS IN THE HANOI HILTON FOR FIVE YEARS, YOU JACKASS!!!
Sweet fucking Christ, when did being a POW become a campaign target? Really, Wesley? Is that what we’re gonna do? Because certainly if those gloves are gonna come off and a man’s service to his country in such horrendous conditions can be used as a verbal barb, then there are SOOOOO many things that could be fair game about the Chosen One for the Democrats too.
I had hoped that we were in a point in our society that such mudslinging was beneath the candidates for the President of this land, and to their credit both McCain AND Obama distanced themselves from Wesley Clark while being respectful.
Oh, and Wes? One thing to keep in mind, you unbelievable douchebag. McCain’s older than you, yes. He’s ex-Navy, if that really matters to you.
But he’s meaner than you, and he’s got a temper from hell. Trust me, John McCain ain’t gonna forget this one.
Out.

Speaking of new readers, I thought I would say hello. Nice to see another conservative blogger in Austin!
I’ve been letting my own blog languish, but reading Wetwired has inspired me.
Cheers!
