Seriously, pay and break the contract. Its probably 150 bucks or so. I switched to Green Mountain Energy and I am extremely happy with them.

Yeah, I'd seriously like to switch. The sad part is, a couple months after I bought my house last year a guy came around and was selling Clean Mountain electric or something - it was wind/solar/and clean coal or something or other and it was cheaper than TXU but I had already signed the contract with TXU. One more year and I'm out...

Your blog is why I have stuck with the City of Austin for utilities. The City operates its own call center and is very responsive to customer concerns. TXU has one of the worst customer service records and the fact that they outsource to a call center in India is indicative of a organization who does not give a tinkers damn about its customers.

Given the degree of greed at Perdenales Electric, I'll stay here in South Austin and happily pay the City of Austin for electricity, water, waste water and waste disposal.
