Reports Of My Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated.

Man, I go quiet for a few weeks, and THIS is what Pylorns writes about? The end of days?

I just can’t leave him alone with you people, can I?

Not much of an update here though, to be honest. I have new hours at work, which eat into my evening proclivities which normally include this site. Plus, I haven’t had much to say lately. Combine that with the fact that I try not to discuss the details of The Job on here (especially more so since people from said Job now READ this site), and the fact that I’ve been too damned busy to pay too much attention to the world of late, and it leads to me being a very dull boy.

I have had some personal developments, of which I may discuss on here eventually. Oh and Py, his paramour and I are heading to the Scarborough Faire next weekend for some RenFest fun and frivolity. You can expect a report on this, since it’ll be first time in a couple of months since the three of us got together.

Some family issues, which I won’t go into on here just yet although it may lead to an unplanned trip to Louisiana in the very near future.

Other than that, pretty quiet here in The OKC. I’ll report back from the fringes of society soon, I promise.

A World plundged in Chaos

Has it ever been this bad before?

In Austin: A shooting, a man held up in a house that was then lit on fire.
In Virginia, a lunatic guns down 32 people
In Somalia, War is currently raging with Islamic/Muslim extremists
In France a new president run off between the far right and the far left. They both have to deal with things like a Muslim population that houses potential insurgents that - have made clear they want to turn France into a Muslim state.
In Isreal the terrorist group Hamas urges Palestinians to up rocket attacks to kill more Jews.
In Iran, the country continues to push its agenda of backing Hamas and Hesbolah. Iran previously kidnapped British troops and coerced them into stating they had come into Iranian waters.
Syria, backs Islamic fundamentalists.

A lot of people talk about intolerance and peace and how we should be tolerant of religions and shoot for peace. Looking at the world view, it seems one religion feels differently. Apparently there are a lot of “Militant Islamic” groups and they continue to get financial backing. Can religions take over countries in modern days? Why does one feel that Islam is the only religion? What is the breaking point for civil society?

Muslim Cab Drivers face fines if they refuse to take someone who has alcohol.

Now I can see the point of refusing to take someone if they are completely drunk or belligerent, but refusing to take someone cause they were coming back from somewhere carrying a closed bottle of alcohol is absurd. This is America, religion does not define our laws like it does in the middle east. If you don’t like it - go back to the middle east. You don’t come into a country and expect the country to bend over backwards to accommodate you. You came to this country for a reason, respect it. Learn to speak the language, don’t expect someone to have to learn to speak yours.

MINNEAPOLIS - Taxi drivers who refuse service to travelers carrying alcohol at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport face tougher penalties despite protests from Muslim cabbies who sought a compromise for religious reasons, officials said Monday.

The Metropolitan Airports Commission said new penalties were needed to ensure customers get safe and reliable taxi service, and voted to suspend a driver’s airport taxi license for 30 days for the first offense and revoke it for two years for a second offense. The new penalties take effect May 11.

Airport officials say more than 70 percent of the cabbies at the airport are Muslim, and many of them say Islamic law forbids them from giving rides to people carrying alcohol.

Under the old rules, a driver who refused to transport someone carrying alcohol would be told to go to the back of the taxicab line. Airport officials said that since January 2002, there have been more than 4,800 instances of drivers’ refusing to take alcohol-carrying travelers.

Commissioners said the old rules didn’t prevent customers from being stranded at the curb or — as reported in a few cases — dropped off before their destination after drivers learned of their alcohol on board.

A bit later it says:
The airport had proposed one pilot program that had drivers who wouldn’t transport alcohol display a different top light on their cab, but the public’s reaction was overwhelmingly negative and taxi drivers feared it would make travelers avoid taxis altogether.

No shit, people are probably more afraid of getting into the cab and having the cab driver blow them up.

Rev. Al Sharpton is a racist bigot

A couple months ago I posted about black history month and how the African American (Black) community had not had any good leadership sine MLK. My thoughts were brought to fruition when Imus was fired and Al Sharpton reveled in it. While I do not condone what Imus said, I do uphold the right to free speach. Al Sharpton does not believe in free speech. He doesn’t even believe in promoting the black community. He believe in money and airtime and publicity for himself. There used to be great movers and shakers in the black community that were college educated, well spoken, driven individuals. They knew that life was hard and you had to be your own man. They didn’t have their hand outs saying “gimme gimmie gimmie”, they were proud. Now, you have people who play the race card, and feel that the world owes them something. I don’t owe you a damn thing.

News of the Wierd: ATM thief’s fake leg falls off in escape bid

POMONA, California (AP) — A man accused of using a chain and pickup truck to yank a 1,500-pound ATM from a market failed to escape police when his prosthetic leg fell off during the getaway.

Gregory Daniels, 48, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of burglary for the attempted heist from Pomona Ranch Market, police said.

Authorities say Daniels and another man drove up to the market about 3 a.m., smashed a window, wrapped a chain around the ATM and used the pickup to rip it from the floor. After loading the cash machine into the truck, the pair drove off.

Officers chased the truck into a residential neighborhood, where the men drove into a dead-end street. Daniels’ alleged accomplice fled, but police said Daniels wasn’t able to escape.

“Daniels was on the ground near the vehicle in an attempt to flee from officers,” Sgt. E. Vazquez said. “However, he was unsuccessful, as his prosthetic leg fell off.”

The ATM and its cash were recovered. The assistant manager of the Pomona Ranch Market, Tom Zvoda, said he didn’t know how much money was inside.

Imus and the Basketball team

Have you been following this? I’ve seen a couple reports on it. While what he said may be uncalled for. Its America, where we have a freedom of speech. Yeah he’s a douchebag. But come on people, what have we come to where the whole population is so politically correct that we offend everyone. I’m sorry if you’re offended, but take a freaking joke and move on.

We’re going to get to a point where everyone is too afraid to say anything people will just stop having intelectual conversations. Hello dumbed down population.

Off to the friendly skies

This week I just flew back from Orlando from my quick vacation visiting cheeseman. Now I’m back to florida this morning for work, this time in Ft. Myers. Next week I’m local in austin, and then the following week I’m in Corpus Christi. Then 2 weeks later I’m heading up to colorado to do yet another onsite.

Busy? Yeah…

And Now, The Obligatory April Fools’ Follow-up.

I couldn’t pass up writing about this- MT, this is for you.

I’m sitting at work, and I get an IM from a coworker- MT, in this case. It reads:

“Hey, I saw about your engagement. Congratulations! I’ll make sure to talk to (insert my boss’ bosses names here) and we can throw a party for you and your fiancee!”

And before you ask- yes, he was oh-so-obviously busting my balls.

I just thought it was funny, myself.

Engagement Edition: AKA An Important Announcement

So, it looks like I should let you in on some important news.

About six months ago, my company began sending me up to The OKC for interviewing. I began volunteering to come up here more often, eventually making six more trips up before pursuing further employment and relocation to the town. Ostensibly, it was for just The Job.

What I haven’t mentioned, until now that is, is that when I first came up here I met someone.

We met at a local restuarant here in Bricktown, a place called Nonna’s. Her name is Brenda Swanford, and she’s a pharmaceutical sales rep based out of Tulsa. We initially started out with some basic flirting and fun, but over the course of my return trips here we began to see each other more frequently.

When I moved up in January, things became more serious. I held off from telling anyone, simply because as I lead a relatively private life I didn’t want the typical pestering and badgering that comes with me being involved in arelationship. When Pylorns and his Lady came up in February, I had to ensure that he didn’t find out about the relationship, for fear he would blab about it on the site.

Brenda began spending more time with me recently, and I with her. Eventualy, I realized I had found The One. With a pay increase recently, I decided that it was the right time.

So, I bought the ring. And today, I asked for her hand in marriage.

Surpisingly, she said yes.

I’ll have more details after the jump, but I wanted to share this information with you folks. I’ll let the really close ones in on all the details directly, but we are very happy.
