Five Years.
posted by FinleyAugust 26, 2001.
It’s an important date to me, you see. It was a Sunday, and the weather was nice between Austin and Baton Rouge. I happen to know this, that was the day that I left my family and friends to move to Austin for the start of a new career and life.
It’s been five years since I’ve moved here, and I can tell you with certainty that the move was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life. It’s had its share of good times and bad, for certain. However, I know without a question that leaving a nowhere job and nowhere existence in a shitty apartment in Baton Rouge was better than staying.
I’ve made it here, and I have people to thank for that. In no particular order (and with real names, for once…):
James.
Chris.
Brian.
Tim.
Mandy.
Aaron.
Jason and Suzy.
Rick and Christina.
David.
The Fam, including my father.
Even you, Pauline (if only for the voice that I would imitate for years on end).
Everyone in the list above was instrumental in me making the (at this point) biggest decision in my life and sticking with it over the years. And with that thought in mind…
Thank you, from the bottom of my cold, shriveled husk of a heart.
Out.

You are most welcome… if only for it giving me the oportunity of seeing my name in a list with pauline’s.
Honestly though, I owe you at least as much thanks as you do me.
Congratulations on the pentaversary.
Your heart is neither black nor shriveled.

Um… err… you’re welcome I think.
It’s only fair. You put up with all my whining and sniveling on the road to authorhood.
Enough to make you reconsider, ah?
