To Star, In Response.

posted by Finley

In the post I wrote about David Hasselhoff, a comment was made by Star requesting that I not use “out” as the ending of my posts. Here is the comment in its entirety:

Is there any chance you can stop ending your posts in “out”? We’re not trying to communicate over Army telephone here, and the advent of your personal avatar effectively means “out.”

In case you think I’ve to type more:

Out.

First of all, I’d like to thank Star for enlightening me as to the error of my ways. See, up until a few minutes ago I thought I was your average GI Joe, working to fight Charlie in the jungles of Vietnam. Now, I’ve seen the light.

Second, I’d like to thank Star for pointing out how apparently I’m very, very stupid. See, apparently I didn’t know that the little drawing there at the end of this post meant that the post ended. I just kept reading and reading and reading… but not anymore!

Now, as to why I end my posts with “out…”

A long time ago, I wanted something to serve as my closing signature. I was using “My thoughts, anyways” for a while but I felt it was too long. I wanted something shorter, and “out” came into play. It’s a tradition of sorts for me to use “out,” and as such I continue to use it and WILL continue to use it until I so choose to discontinue the usage thereof.

Oh, and by the way Star? If you haven’t figured it out yet, and need something to clarify what this post is supposed to mean?

Lighten up, pal. You don’t like it, just ignore my posts and we’ll be even.

Out.

Finley, perhaps you should use other prepositions to end your posts? What about “under” or “down” or even possibly “in”. “In” would work.

I guess the only real down side to any of these alternative sign outs is that non of them are aign “outs”.

You see “out” has a previously established meaning when communicating. Which I guess gives it a leg up on, say, using the word “inside” to close a post, or even “Carl”.

Maybe star would just like you too use “Carl” and didn’t have the balls to ask you to do it directly.

Star, I’m sorry, I don’t think I would approve if Finley started using the word “Carl” to close his posts.

Star may like it, but the rest of us think it’s just gay.

So for now, I think “Out” is the best close you have access to.

But don’t worry Star, you can write your own posts, on your own site and close as many of them with “gay Carl” as you would like.

Personally I think you and gay Carl deserve each other…

  2. Star Says:

    Hehe, I think I hit a nerve :/

I don’t know who Carl is, but I’m guessing this is some crazy injoke you Wetwired kids like to bandy about.

I half expected my comment to be blocked by the moderator, but I appreciate the reply, even if my harmless suggestion achieved little.

we rarely block comments, we welcome them cause we can just make fun of them when we see fit. The only things I bother moderating are things that are morally deplorable, you know like spam.

finley has yet to be out.. much to my dismay <3

  5. Finley Says:

Dav1x, I’m not even sure what the hell that MEANS dude.

  6. dav1x Says:

    out of the closet :p

  7. Beerslinger Says:

I think he’s implying you’re gay and in the closet.
