Save money by purchasing a non(cr)apple product like the Creative Nomad Zen.
Or you can waste your cash and be cool like everyone else with iPods.

I own both the Zen Xtra 40GB (for mass storage, mostly used at work now in fact) and a Nano 2GB (for walking, listening to music in the car). I bought the Nano because I have enough iTunes audio and Audible audiobooks that I wanted a simple solution to play both. Unlike most of the zealots though, I really don’t give much of a damn that the thing scratches. I can still see the screen very clearly, and if it eventually bugs me long enough I’ll have it polished to get them out, and put on a sleeve. Not, y’know, file a CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT.

I would think that putting tape on it would be worse than scratches.
