Helen: The queen of misunderstanding

Wetwired Time Tuesday, October 25th, 2005 at 7:48 am by pylorns

You know I try to follow her website on a daily basis. Why? Because she is completly honest and open unlike so many of todays writers. Myself included - then again that’s not what wetwired is about. But honestly her blog always has something intersting to read. So the other day I went to her blog and read a long post about how pissed she was about her job and how she was trapped. A rant about work if you will. I read it and it bothered me that someone could be so trapped. I mean I know that the corporate world is still a male dominated world but I never thought it could be that bad. So yesturday I came back to read it again, thinking I could give some better advice and she removed the post. So I commented saying, I see you removed the rant?

And here was her reply:

Excuse me?

My last…rant?

Are you serious?

1) I have said again and again that I talk about work then remove the posts. It’s for venting purposes only.
2) If you want to lower my work stress to the kind of tone reserved for “hysterical women” or “that kind of lecture your woman gives you when you really just want to watch the game with a beer”, then be prepared to piss me off.

So yes, I removed the post.

Ass.

What the fuck? The definition of a rant is: A speech or piece of writing that incites anger or violence. Now seeing the previous comments in there I know it angered a great many of her readers. So now she’s assuming that I/we see her as a hysterical woman? How can you get that? I dub the: Queen of Misunderstanding.

White Pride?

Wetwired Time Monday, October 24th, 2005 at 10:56 am by pylorns

Ok this is disturbing that these children are being brainwashed. Now I have nothing wrong with say white nationalism, that does not promote racism. Hispanics have it, African Americans have it. Why can’t Caucasions have their own nationalistic pride? That said, read below and you’ll find its very disturbing especially when they sing songs that are a tribute to Hitlers own Rudolf Hess.

ABC NEWS Oct. 20, 2005 — Thirteen-year-old twins Lamb and Lynx Gaede have one album out, another on the way, a music video, and lots of fans.

They may remind you another famous pair of singers, the Olsen Twins, and the girls say they like that. But unlike the Olsens, who built a media empire on their fun-loving, squeaky-clean image, Lamb and Lynx are cultivating a much darker personna. They are white nationalists and use their talents to preach a message of hate.

Known as “Prussian Blue” — a nod to their German heritage and bright blue eyes — the girls from Bakersfield, Calif., have been performing songs about white nationalism before all-white crowds since they were nine.

“We’re proud of being white, we want to keep being white,” said Lynx. “We want our people to stay white … we don’t want to just be, you know, a big muddle. We just want to preserve our race.”

Lynx and Lamb have been nurtured on racist beliefs since birth by their mother April. “They need to have the background to understand why certain things are happening,” said April, a stay-at-home mom who no longer lives with the twins’ father. “I’m going to give them, give them my opinion just like any, any parent would.”

April home-schools the girls, teaching them her own unique perspective on everything from current to historical events. In addition, April’s father surrounds the family with symbols of his beliefs — specifically the Nazi swastika. It appears on his belt buckle, on the side of his pick-up truck and he’s even registered it as his cattle brand with the Bureau of Livestock Identification.

“Because it’s provocative,” explains April of the cattle brand, “to him he thinks it’s important as a symbol of freedom of speech that he can use it as his cattle brand.”

Teaching Hate

Songs like “Sacrifice” — a tribute to Nazi Rudolf Hess, Hitler’s deputy Fuhrer — clearly show the effect of the girls’ upbringing. The lyrics praise Hess as a “man of peace who wouldn’t give up.”

“It really breaks my heart to see those two girls spewing out that kind of garbage,” said Ted Shaw, civil rights advocate and president of the NAACP’s Legal Defense Fund — though Shaw points out that the girls aren’t espousing their own opinions but ones they’re being taught.

On that point, April Gaede and Ted Shaw apparently agree.

“Well, all children pretty much espouse their parents’ attitudes,” she said. “We’re white nationalists and of course that’s a part of our life and I’m going to share that part of my life with my children.”

Since they began singing, the girls have become such a force in the white nationalist movement, that David Duke — the former presidential candidate, one-time Ku-Klux-Klan grand wizard and outspoken white supremacist — uses the twins to draw a crowd.

Prussian Blue supporter Erich Gliebe, operator of one of the nation’s most notorious hate music labels, Resistance Records, hopes younger performers like Lynx and Lamb will help expand the base of the White Nationalist cause.

“Eleven and 12 years old,” he said, “I think that’s the perfect age to start grooming kids and instill in them a strong racial identity.”

Gliebe, who targets young, mainstream white rockers at music festivals like this past summer’s “Ozzfest,” says he uses music to get his message out.

But with names like Blue-Eyed Devils and Angry Aryans, these tunes are far more extreme than the ones sung by Lamb and Lynx.

“We give them a CD, we give them something as simple as a stick, they can go to our Web site and see other music and download some of our music,” said Gliebe. “To me, that’s the best propaganda tool for our youth.”

A Taste for Hate

Gliebe says he hopes that as younger racist listeners mature, so will their tastes for harder, angrier music like that of Shawn Sugg of Max Resist.

One of Sugg’s songs is a fantasy piece about a possible future racial war that goes: “Let the cities burn, let the streets run red, if you ain’t white you’ll be dead.”

“I’d like to compare it to gangsta rap,” explained Sugg, “where they glorify, you know, shooting n****** and pimping whores.”

Sugg shrugs off criticism that music like his should not be handed out to schoolyard children, arguing that “it’s just music, it’s not like you’re handing out AK-47s.”

Perhaps not, but Shaw says it’s the ideas in the music that are dangerous.

“When you talk about people being dead if they’re not white,” said Shaw, “I don’t think there is much question that that is hateful.”

A Place to Call Home

Despite the success of Prussian Blue and bands like Max Resist within the White Nationalism movement, most Americans don’t accept their racist message.

Like many children across the country, Lamb and Lynx decided to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina — the white ones.

The girls’ donations were handed out by a White Nationalist organization who also left a pamphlet promoting their group and beliefs — some of the intended recipients were more than a little displeased.

After a day of trying, the supplies ended up with few takers, dumped at a local shop that sells Confederate memorabilia.

Last month, the girls were scheduled to perform at the local county fair in their hometown. But when some people in the community protested, Prussian Blue was removed from the line-up.

But even before that, April had decided that Bakersfield was not “white” enough, so she sold her home, and hopes that she and the girls can find an all-white community in the Pacific Northwest.

Hurricane

Wetwired Time Monday, October 24th, 2005 at 9:29 am by pylorns

Well, looks like florida is getting some serious hurricane issues at this point.

Hurricane Wilma, with sustained winds of 125 mph, made landfall at 6:30 a.m. EDT today near Cape Romano, Fla. The hurricane, with sustained winds now at 110 mph, continues to rip northeastward over the southern Florida Peninsula. The rather large eye of the storm is expected to churn over the West Palm Beach area into the Atlantic Ocean during the 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. time frame. Winds have gusted over 100 mph in a number of locations across south Florida. A storm spotter on Cudjoe Key reported a gust to 123 mph, and gusts as high as 111 mph have battered greater Miami. Fort Lauderdale recently observed a peak wind of 99 mph. In addition to the damaging winds and heavy rain, a few tornadoes are likely as far north as the Orlando area.

Since Wilma is moving rapidly, rainfall amounts will not be excessive. The rain will be blinding at times, however, and general totals of 4 to 6 inches are expected, with isolated 8- to 12-inch amounts possible.

Alpha, meanwhile, has weakened to a tropical depression after making landfall in the Dominican Republic Sunday morning. It has pushed across Haiti and back over open water, but is not expected to regain tropical storm strength as it heads north over the southeastern Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands. The remains of Alpha will be absorbed by the larger circulation of Hurricane Wilma some time tomorrow.

MAO!!! … Zedong

Wetwired Time Friday, October 21st, 2005 at 10:24 am by pylorns

BEIJING (Reuters) - Late Chairman Mao Zedong is experiencing a revival in northeast China, but in an unlikely role — as a wedding MC.

Li Shouxin, an actor in his 50s and dead-ringer for Mao in a trademark blue suit, was in great demand among soon-to-be-weds in Changchun, Jilin province, and played the part at an average five to six weddings a month, the China Daily said on Friday.

“At weddings, Li begins with a typical Mao-style wave to guests before greeting people in the strong Hunan brogue of the leader’s home province,” the report said.

“He then invites the happy couples’ parents to speak and tells anecdotes about the newly weds.”

Li charged 500 yuan per appearance, which included a rendition of the revolutionary tune and paean to Mao “The East is Red”, the paper said.

Mao, the founder of modern China, is still widely revered in China despite having engineered the Great Leap Forward, which led to famine that claimed millions of lives in the late 1950s, and the chaotic 1966-76 Cultural Revolution.

The standard line in China is that Mao did 70 percent right and 30 percent wrong.

While Li has proved popular, not everyone in Changchun is taken with the idea of the Great Helmsman as wedding MC.

“Chairman Mao is my most respected person,” 69-year-old Ren Shuzhen was quoted as saying.

“To dress up in his image and preside over weddings hurts people’s feelings towards the great man.”

Making the move to movable type

Wetwired Time Thursday, October 20th, 2005 at 9:06 am by pylorns

Welp, after some long deliberation we’ve made the decision to switch from blogger to movable type. Ok, maybe not so long. I’ve actually tried several times in the past to move over, by testing first and I could never get the desired effect. But after converting over most of the current layout I’m pretty confident the move will be a good one. Benifits from moving to movable type:

More ways to feed you: RSS, ATOM, 50 Million ways to syndicate and blogger only allows one.
Categories: Now have the ability to categorize everything.
Tags: One of the cooler features, is to make use of tags fully, and locally. Now technorati gets pinged when we update but not only that, I can sort everything by tags.
Commenting: My current commenting is pretty good, but the New MT 3.2 has some of the best features out there right now to moderate, and block spam etc.
Trackback: It has never worked very well with blogger.. er I don’t think its ever worked correctly.
Locally hosted: No longer do I have to rely on blogger to post. Movable type allows myself and authors to post through wetwired and not some other site.

and others….

Moving foward

Wetwired Time Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 at 1:26 pm by pylorns

Moving forward, I’ve managed to put a basic page down here now so that it looks like the conversion is going well. I am going to take a long time trying to get the archive pages and individual archive pages working correctly though. Everything is a bit more compllicated because of the complete dependency on CSS. While I like a lot of it, its pretty damn time consuming. Next couple of tasks include putting an image near the author name.

In Case Anyone Is Wondering…

Wetwired Time Tuesday, October 18th, 2005 at 11:56 pm by Finley

The item located on the paper towels in those two pictures is processed, uncooked deer and pork sausage. It was made Saturday all day by Lucky, Rick and members of the Wetwired Nation.

Sadly… I took the pictures.

Not a word, folks. Not a word.

Out.
