Helen: The queen of misunderstanding
posted by pylornsYou know I try to follow her website on a daily basis. Why? Because she is completly honest and open unlike so many of todays writers. Myself included - then again that’s not what wetwired is about. But honestly her blog always has something intersting to read. So the other day I went to her blog and read a long post about how pissed she was about her job and how she was trapped. A rant about work if you will. I read it and it bothered me that someone could be so trapped. I mean I know that the corporate world is still a male dominated world but I never thought it could be that bad. So yesturday I came back to read it again, thinking I could give some better advice and she removed the post. So I commented saying, I see you removed the rant?
And here was her reply:
Excuse me?
My last…rant?
Are you serious?
1) I have said again and again that I talk about work then remove the posts. It’s for venting purposes only.
2) If you want to lower my work stress to the kind of tone reserved for “hysterical women” or “that kind of lecture your woman gives you when you really just want to watch the game with a beer”, then be prepared to piss me off.So yes, I removed the post.
Ass.
What the fuck? The definition of a rant is: A speech or piece of writing that incites anger or violence. Now seeing the previous comments in there I know it angered a great many of her readers. So now she’s assuming that I/we see her as a hysterical woman? How can you get that? I dub the: Queen of Misunderstanding.

Ahh. See, there’s the problem. “Rant” carries a connotation to it that Helen found offensive. Shocking, really, that you offended her sensibilities by boiling her entire diatribe about her job sucking down to a “rant.”
Not saying that it’s your fault, mind you. But you could have chosen a better word to use in any case.
Now, that being said- I really don’t see the benefit of calling her something as inane as the “queen of misunderstanding” because she didn’t like something you wrote. Maybe that’s just me, is all.

Thanks, Finlay.
Others have agreed you maybe had a poor word choice and you’re going todub me the Queen of Misunderstanding?
Oh yeah. That’ll help me “understand”.

You know had you not banned me from explaining myself, I most likely would not have posted this. Sure, maybe its poor word choice to someone who is VERY sensitive to it so for that I apologise. But to not ask questions and to blatantly assume something?

And maybe I’ll unban you again, but your comment? Yeah. It was out of order. I still feel that way.
