Weekend Review, a bit late

Wetwired Time Wednesday, July 20th, 2005 at 9:10 am by pylorns

I took vacation last thursday and friday with familiy visiting wetwired central. Now I need a vacation after my vacation. Just kidding :) No really.

Things to note: Mr and Mrs Smith - not too bad. I went in to watch it expecting to not be impressed. I wasn’t, but on the otherhand it had good entertainment value and was actually quite funny. If you have time to kill and want to laugh, check it out. The cool thing was that they had a teaser for The Davinci Code staring Tom Hanks. If you have not read the book go get it.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince came out. I was dragged at midnight up to walmart in order to procure a copy. While I have never read any of the books I have enjoyed the movies. Yes I said it. Actually I plan on buying all the books but I was kinda waiting until they all came out and just buy them in a set. You know they are going to put some nice set together that costs way too much. Either that or I’ll wait till paperback.

Friday Fnliii, Beerslinger, Family and I went and saw Frank Caliendo perform again. Damn he’s good. Now if you’re wanting to have some funny ring tones check out his page here and if you have specific phones you can download them for FREE.

Sweet Deal at Wal-Mart. Read Below…

Wetwired Time Tuesday, July 19th, 2005 at 4:47 pm by Finley

Okay, so normally I’m not a shill for anything in terms of saying “Hey, buy from here!” However… When I saw this I thought it necessary to point it out.

The Wal-Mart in Round Rock, TX off Exit 251 on I-35 North is currently selling the Sanyo model Sirius Satellite Radio kit (including home kit, car kit and radio unit), a kit normally sold for $145, for $65.00.

80 bucks saved, in other words.

Before you ask- no, it’s not available anywhere else at this price. The store apparently is the only Wal-Mart in the area (or in Baton Rouge, for that matter- I already checked) selling the kit at this price.

I’ve bought The Old Man one already today, and being that I want Sirius to succeed I’m going to go ahead and promote this sale. And to think- Wal-Mart’s getting this promotion for free.

Must be getting soft in my advancing age.

I’m gonna regret this…

Lucky Canadian Bastards.

Wetwired Time Wednesday, July 13th, 2005 at 10:25 pm by Finley

For once, I wish I was living in Canada.

It looks like Sue Johannson, host of the Sunday Night Sex Show (or as Beerslinger refers to it, the “Old lady selling dildos, old lady selling dildos! AAAHHH” show), is going off the air in Canada. However, she will remain on the air in the US.

(One side note, one of the most amusing memories I have is watching Beerslinger flipping through the channels on tv, finding this show, yelping the above quote aloud, and swiftly changing the channel as a dildo is flashed on the screen. Priceless.)

Okay, have you SEEN this show? Seriously? I mean, I get that she’s an expert in her field and that she offers (apparently) good advice to those who call her. However, I REALLY don’t want to see a grandmother talk about stroking the shaft so he enjoys it more, or the best positions WITH VISUAL for her pleasure.

(Insert full body shudder here)

Uhm, yeah. So, I just never want to see this woman on television again. Ever.

Fucking EVER.

(Insert another full body shudder here)

Disturbing thought

Wetwired Time Wednesday, July 13th, 2005 at 9:05 am by pylorns

This disturbs me. It’s the way politicians think; That if you have a budget and its the government budget you should make sure you spend the whole budget. Never thought of giving it back…

Mayor Bloomberg also criticized the MTA yesterday for spending only $30 million of a planned $600 million in post-9/11 security enhancements.

“The MTA has to ratchet up the pace of increasing security on our subway system,” Bloomberg said. “Clearly they’re not far enough along.”

MTA spokesman Brian Dolan said the MTA is spending $43 million a year for extra police salaries and security measures and will spend up to $400 million by the end of the year on long-term security projects

This is they way government program works. You are a director of widgets. The government budget is 100 million for your widget program.

After paying all of the salaries, purchasing all of your supplies for the whole year, you are 10 million under budget. Because of this , a month before the end of the fiscal year your next projected budget with raises etc is 95 million because the year prior you were 10 million under. Normally this should be perfectly fine but in this case, they go an buy 10 million dollars worth of something so that the next year the budget is 105 millon. Always spend more is the motto apparently.

That said, I do feel we should make sure we are taking extra precautions with our current security of the country, but jesus I hope we have someone holding them accountable for their budget.

Never Thought I’d Type THIS…

Wetwired Time Tuesday, July 12th, 2005 at 9:30 pm by Finley

Okay, so I’m gonna go ahead and say something that I never thought I’d say. I’m sure you never thought someone on this site would say this.

Karl Rove needs to either resign, or be fired.

That simple.

Through his lawyer, he’s comfirmed to have been the source in the White House for the Newsweek/New York Times article exposing Valerie Plume as a CIA Op. Bush said two years ago that the source of the leak would be fired. And yet today, the White House has backed Rove nonetheless.

This is now an issue with the possibility of putting a crack into the integrity of Bush’s administration. Every day that Karl Rove remains at the side of Bush as an official advisor and member of the administration’s staff further tarnishes the president’s reputation and legacy itself.

I know they’re friends. I know that Rove got Bush to where he is. And I know that without Rove, Bush loses a major intellectual asset in his staff. But with Rove, things just look more and more dirty.

Rove needs to go as an official advisor. If you want him and his input, keep him as an unofficial, unpaid advisor- but don’t keep him on the public dime, not after this.

Hurricane Party

Wetwired Time Friday, July 8th, 2005 at 11:36 am by pylorns

New Orleans is slated to get a massive Hurricane and it has not even entered the Gulf. Right now winds are at 150 MPH. Once the Hurricane hits the gulf, the warm waters will actually fuel it and it will continue to get stronger.

Be safe guys, and get outta there.
