I got into a conversation, one of which happens more often lately about why I don’t have ads on wetwired. While I have this half-hearted view of saying its selling out, that’s not the reason. The real reason is that I hate seeing advertisements all over a website. If I want to buy something I’ll buy it. I have enough media and advertisements pushed in my face on a daily basis by regular websites why do I need to see a god damned blog with more ads on it than paveratzi around Brittany and Kevin.

Its not that I don’t appreciate advertisement in general. In fact if you look at a magazine that you buy off the newsstand there are dozens of ads. But the difference is that these are well thought out, graphically designed, pleasing ads. They aren’t in your face, shove down your throat, cheese website hoping to make a buck.

If I’m browsing your blog and you have those ads on your site, I’m not going to click on them. In fact I feel like it cheapens a websites look in general. I mean what do you expect to get?

Now if I browse a blog that has adds that match the site, that look like they took talent, and the product is interesting, then maybe, just maybe I’ll take a look.

The question remains, will wetwired ever post advertisements? I think its possible. Hell, the site costs money out of my pocket every month and I would like the site to one day pay for itself. But I will not sacrifice the appearance, I will not clutter the webspace with garbage. If wetwired ever has an add on it, it will be clever, thought out, and look really fucking cool.
