Vanilla Sky

Wetwired Time Saturday, October 18th, 2003 at 12:34 pm by pylorns

I’ve had this movie for quite some time. Today I find myself at work, yes, work, watching Vanilla Sky for the umpteenth time. Why am I at work you ask? Money. No other answer than money, and the fact that I take this small pleasure in poking fun at complete morons that call in on a saturday morning at 6am. Who wakes up at 6 am to call tech support?

“Page 127. David Jr. was a delight as a child. Did I miss something here? Is that all he wrote about you?” asks Kurt Russell when questioning Tom Cruise (David)about his childhood and his father. Upon further questioning, we find out that his father and mother will killed by a druken driver and left him 3 magazines and a publishing company.

Vanilla Sky is actually a remake of the 1997 Spanish film called Open Your Eyes which won at the Spanish film festival . The basic premise is: David: rich, pretty boy meets attractive woman: Sophia, and falls head over heals. Psycho X (or soon to be X) drives him and herself over a bridge and kills herself, leaves him horribly scarred. After a time of solitude, he goes out with his friends, gets drunk, passes out in the middle of a street. He wakes up to find Pen

People just don’t listen

Wetwired Time Friday, October 17th, 2003 at 9:24 am by pylorns

I work in the tech support industry, so I deal with people from all walks of life on a daily basis. Unfortunatly its all over the phone. I swear some days I wish I could reach through the phone and strangle them. I talk to people that don’t listen to you and do what they want to do while your on the phone. Some people don’t pay attention to what I say and have me repeat my instructions twenty times. I kid you not.

Today is no exception, I’m talking to this guy who just does stuff and doesn’t tell me what he’s doing. “Ok have you rebooted to the windows cd?” I ask.

“Oh yeah, and I’ve already started the emergency repair.”

“Whoa, whoa, did I ask you to do that?”

“Oh, no I thought you wanted me to do that.”

“No. I want to run a chkdsk on hard drive first.”

“Oh, I’ll have to restart then.”

This particular guy just likes to do what he wants to do, and not take my advice.

“Go ahead and reboot the computer by powering it off since its going so slow…”

“No, I’ll just wait until the start button comes up.”

“No, No, just reboot it now to speed things along.”

“I want to shut it down smoothly.”

“I would like to get this fixed in a timely manner, if you wait we’ll be sitting on this phone for 30 minutes.”

I wait for a bit, he doesnt say anything.

“Where are we at sir?” I ask.

“Oh, I’ve rebooted and I’m running the diags”

I get angry.

“Sir, you are calling me to help you are you not? I need you to go through the steps I ask you to do, so we can resolve this in a timely manner. When you go ahead of me and do something you think is the right thing you’re just increasing the time it takes to determine and fix the problem.”

“Ok.”

The line goes dead…

Why waste my time? If you think you know the answer, then fix it yourself, don’t bother calling me. I have better things to do, like running a website.

This is a test of the Emergency Broadcast System.

Wetwired Time Thursday, October 16th, 2003 at 4:32 pm by Agamemnon

This is a test of the Emergency Broadcast System. The broadcasters of your area in voluntary cooperation with the Federal, State and local authorities have developed this system to keep you informed in the event of an emergency. If this had been an actual emergency, the Attention Signal you just heard would have been followed by official information, news or instructions. This station - Wetwired.org serves the World Wide Web. This concludes this test of the Emergency Broadcast System.”

This was just a test to see if I could post since our blogger functionality was down for a while

now, http://di.wetwired.orgis not working, it appears the domain was removed - in the process of trying to figure out what is going on, I locked myself out of the cpanel. My host is fixing the issue. They are trying to figure out why the subdomains keep disapearing.

Sub Domains Screwy?

Wetwired Time Thursday, October 16th, 2003 at 10:14 am by pylorns

Yes, we are aware that half the time the sub domains appear and half the time this site pulls up when you refresh. Specifically Kittysays.wetwired.org - I came in this morning and the entire sub domain was missing. I have fixed that but waiting on my host to get back with me. Trouble ticket has been submitted.

Size matter?

Wetwired Time Wednesday, October 15th, 2003 at 10:19 am by pylorns

This is another repost from dateproject that I wrote some months back. If your interested in browsing the old site its still there:dateproject.wetwired.org

The age old question, does it really matter? Well in careful research here at the date project we have come up with the answer. And most notably in the best source to look. The Kama Sutra, yes the oldest porographic book known to man, though not many men read it because it’s more than 50 pages long and doest have pics of hot models in it.

In looking to the past we find the answer is yes, but not in the sense that you might be thinking. First I’ll point out the text and explain:

1. According to the size of his sexual organ, a man is called a hare [shasha], bull [vrisha], or stallion [ashva]. The Woman, according to type, is called the doe [mrigi], mare [vadava], or cow-elephant [hastini]

2. Those that are matched form three balanced pairs.

3. On the other hand unequal relations number six.
(In cases where the man is superior, there are two forms: superior and ultra superior coition. Similarly, there are two forms of inferior and ultrainferior coition, the rest being equal. Although it is possible to unite organs of superior or inferior size, relations between equals are preferable, the worst being the coupling of extremes. Those between intemediates are niether good nor bad.)

ie. The stallion and mare can have an acceptable union. The bull with the doe is bearable up to a certain point. But the cow-elephant with the bull, and the mare with the hare are not recommended.

The book goes on to say, This classification does not merely refer to the physical aspect, but also implies a certain kind of temperament.

Vatsyayana contemplates three types of man: the hare, whose organ is six fingers long, the bull, whose organ is eight fingers, and the stallion whose organ is twelve fingers. As far s women are concerned [the doe, the mare, and the cow-elephant], it is a question of width and depth of thier vagina. Those whose sizes match are termed equal.

A stallion man has elongated ears, head, and lips, a thin body, thick hair, long fingers, a luminous lookk, heavy thighs. He is fast and has beautiful nails.

The hare man has small feet, figure, buttocks, hands, and ears, a gental voice, beautiful and well-spaced teeth, a lively body. Always with a smile, his face round and his nails hard.

The Bull has a thick neck, an impressive bearing, red palms, an assured air, clear skin, a nice round stomach. He is always lucky.

The doe woman has beautiful hair, a thing body, golden skin; her organ is as cold as the ray of the moon. She has srong teeth, a low voice abundant hair, and lymphatic temperament. She eats little, her face is narrow, her sexual secretions are scented. She never cries out.

The mare has wide, strong nostrils, is slightly knock-kneed, has thick thighs, and her sexual organ is always hot. She has tender fat arms on which drops of sweat appear; her body is of clear color, her sexual secretions smell of meat, her limbs are regular, her belly small. She is of bilious temperment.

The cow elephant is tall. She has a massive body, often has long teeth, and her skin is reddish in color. Her constitution is dominated bu the element of air. Her body is strong and harmonious. She is now cold, now hot, speaks much, is changeable, her menses smell like elephant’s sweat.

So as we read through this, we see that really its a matter of compatibility. The book goes on and on about the subject, but we covered the basis for the argument.

Breaking up

Wetwired Time Monday, October 13th, 2003 at 3:45 pm by pylorns

After reading Wired Nerve’s post today on psycho women, or high maintenance women, I decided to recount a story I was told by my friend Rick.

Breaking up

Over this weekend I had dinner with a couple friends at Olive Garden and my friend Rick related to me a story from his previous weekend. It seems they were going hunting; him, and two other guys, but before hand they had to help one of them (we’ll call him John) move out from his girl friends while she slept. From what I was told, she was psycho.

He had told her that he would be camping out Friday night through the rest of the weekend so he didn’t stay there Friday night and could get the Uhaul. John had not told her that he was leaving her, and because he feared a big scene, decided to just move all of his stuff out while she slept. Keep in mind that most of the furniture in the house was his. The next morning they arrived at 9:30, and to their surprise her mom and brother were there. She (we’ll call her psychoX) was asleep.

After talking with the mother of psychoX, she said, ‘don’t wake her because I don’t know what she will do.’ You know that there is a problem when her own mother tells him not to wake her up.

They packed up all of the furniture and loaded it all up into the Uhal in 2 hours. When they reached John’s parents house, they started unloaded and while they were unloading psychoX drove up. Not wanting to make a scene, he gave the keys to my friend Rick and Bill and told them to drive around the corner and he’d meet them there. When they got around the corner, psychoX was crying that he was leaving her. He told her he had to go and got into the truck, she held on to the door and was screaming and wouldn’t allow them to close the door. They started creeping the truck forward, and managed to close the door, but she held onto to the truck and was looking up at them as they continued to roll forward.

All of the sudden they felt the truck go over something and heard a blood curdling scream. Yep, you guessed it, they ran over her leg. John, feeling in quite the predicament went to help her and she yelled for him to get the hell away, that he didn

The state of football in Texas

Wetwired Time Monday, October 13th, 2003 at 12:39 pm by Agamemnon

Well this was a bittersweet weekend for football fans in Texas.

The University of Texas Longhorns suffered a 65 to 13 loss to The University of Oklahoma Sooners. After this disheartening lost, it is imperative that some action is taken to correct the performance of the Texas football team.

The consensus is that Mack Brown needs to be fired. While Coach Brown might be fired, and in the end that might be the solutions to our problems, I think that the first step that needs to be taken is to find a new offensive coordinator. Our main problem is that our offensive line is not performing up to par and our offensive play calling has been to predictable and conservative. Both of these problems lie squarely on the shoulders of our offensive coordinator. Gregg Davis has been given plenty of opportunities to fix the problems that have been haunting us for the past 4 years, and has not given us any results. It is now time for Gregg Davis to either step down or be removed from the position of offensive coordinator.

I am in no way absolving Mack Brown of any of the blame in this loss, or any loss in the years past; as the head coach, he is responsible for all aspects of coaching and play on the team. Many people think it is time to fire Mack Brown and find a new head coach. I disagree with this. I think we need to allow Coach Brown the chance to make the necessary changes to put us in serious contention for a national championship. Mack Brown has taken this team from having a losing season to having several consecutive winning seasons, a fact that many people tend to forget. That being said I believe that Coach Brown is running out of time and needs to work fast and efficiently towards our goal of a national championship. One year is all Texas fans can afford to give him, for his sake he had better work fast if he wants to keep his job.

On a much happier note, the Dallas Cowboys won yet another game. The Cowboys 23 to 21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles has given the Cowboys a 4 and 1 season. This is the first time since 1995 that we have achieved this record. Even though a lot of people hate Bill Parcells you can say one thing about him, and that is that he is an effective coach when it comes to motivating a team to win. Coach Parcells has taken a loosing team, motivated them, and sculpted them to a much better team (Coach Brown could use a few lessons from Coach Parcells on motivating a team and being a bit tougher on his team, which I think is part of the problem). While the Cowboys are doing great right now, we are not out of the woods yet. We have a game against Tampa Bay in two weeks. This team should be good test for the Cowboys. And while we might still not make it to the playoffs this year, I am happy with the Improvement Bill Parcells and the Dallas Cowboys have had.

Collective story.

Wetwired Time Monday, October 13th, 2003 at 9:55 am by pylorns

In an effort to beefup forum participation, I am doing something we did a long time ago that I think is always fun. Click here.

We did this back a year ago or so and everyone had fun doing it. This is basically what you do in a creative writing class sometimes. Anyway the rules for this one are: I will start with a topic, and a paragraph, you will next add the next paragraph or several paragraphs. The next person will add thiers, the story will take more turns and become more and more outlandish, but it makes it fun.

The Elevator was broken.

‘Elevator Broken’ the sign read. Tom, turned around and started towards the stairwell. He opened the door, and began 13 flights or stairs to the exit.

You add the next paragraph here.

Ah, weekend over :(

Wetwired Time Monday, October 13th, 2003 at 7:54 am by pylorns

now thats what I call coconutsAfter a breif weekend, here we are back to start another monday. This saturday the wetwired crew eased down to Plantersville to check out The Texas Ren Fest. Pics are on the link. Aside from that, I spent Sunday doing webwork and got Kitty Says’ web page up. She’ll be transitioning over and I’ll be moving her archives (hopefully) this week. I also put up her husbands site, he’ll have to move over his files or give me an idea about what he wants to do. Amoung other updates, I managed to get comments for Di, and finnally edit a pic for Agamemnon.

Other updates: Cheesemoo updated his page for the first time in a year. I removed dephul’s site because of inactivity. Cleared up some other space, though I still have some left to clear up.

Repost from dateproject Kite and String.

Wetwired Time Friday, October 10th, 2003 at 12:23 pm by pylorns

Interesting view about relationships from this website: http://blog.thosemoes.com/ I actually hit this from another site that was talking about it. But the jist of the whole article is interesting.

“On the way to work this morning, I was thinking about this theory I heard once about how in every relationship there is a Kite and a String. The theory, which I will now attempt to bastardize in my flaky retelling, is that there is always one person who is the wilder, looser, more adventurous part of the two, The Kite. Then there is The String, who invariably is the one who keeps the Kite anchored, who saves the Kite from getting caught up in high winds and flying away. Of course, without the Kite to pull the String forward and stretch it, it simply lies in a pile, a rather uncompelling exsistience. The Kite gives the String purpose and shows it what it’s like up there in the wind. The String helps the Kite out when things get too dicey up there.

The idea is that a person is usually intrinsically one or the other and that Kites attract Strings and Strings attract Kites. Sometimes, two of a kind end up together and then they either battle it out, learn to alternate or completely implode. I have always been The String and naturally, most of the men I’ve dated have been Kites.

It’s a pretty basic metaphor, but I remember I liked it at the time I heard it and therefore was moved to tell everyone I knew about it.

I first shared it with Ally and my then-boyfriend Joey (now my Kite Life Partner) over lunch one day in a somewhat loud restaurant. We were discussing a couple we knew that we’ll now refer to as “Mr & Mrs Chaos”. As they were both rather spirited people, we were having a hard time figuring out who the Kite was, and who was the String.

Ultimately, we decided that they alternate, but that epiphany followed a long conversation in which the phrase, “Mr(or Mrs) Chaos is totally a Kite” was uttered over and over again. After we noticed that the people seated next to us had gotten rather quiet, Ally realized “Oh my god, they probably think we’re calling Mr Chaos something else*. We keep saying ‘Kite’ over and over again. They probably think we’re having a very different kind of conversation!”

To which we all started laughing uncontrollably, only further alienating the people next to us.”
