Journal vs. Blog, Personal vs. Generalized
posted by pylornsI was reading through a blog http://www.cyoes.com/ and she described blogs vs journals and personal entries. Basically at Journalcon which I missed, they talked about journals always being personal and blogs being in a sense about broad issues and not as personal. I think that statement is almost like debating pro choice vs. pro life. It depends on the writer. Wetwired for instance is not as personal because we have a considerable amount of people on the site and we mostly bring up news articles or current events etc. It’s not my personal site its a news site. At the same time I do post about personal issues from time to time. Wetwired also plays host to other sites that are blogs, using blogger or movable type and they like Kitty Says, are personal sites, personal touch just like a journal. Maybe the difference being that there is the ability to write for an audience where as a journal is usually for ones self. So do blogs= voyeurism? The need to share your feelings for yourself and at the same time to give complete strangers a glimpse of your life. I mean everyone craves the juice, the reality. As long as something exciting is happening or someone is talking about sex. I guess in order to attract readers to wetwired I should mention sex as often as possible on the site, then maybe someone other than the regulars would comment. Don’t think I don’t know you read the site and then leave! I’m watching you people, I see. I know you
