LOS ANGELES - JUST SKIN, BABY: Danielle Gamba, 20, has been fired as an Oakland Raiderette cheerleader after the club discovered nude photos of her on a softcore porn website.
Gamba: “I worked hard to make the Raiderettes and was looking forward to the season. I’m not sure why they had a problem. There have been other Raiderettes in the past who posed sexy for various magazines and didn’t get fired.”
Gamba also appears in the official 2004 Oakland Raiderette calendar.
Well at least the Raiders have their priorities straight. It’s cool to break someone’s face - but not pose nude.
NEW DELHI, India (CNN) — Twin bomb blasts have killed dozens of people in India’s financial capital, Mumbai.
The Indian government said Monday’s attacks appeared similar to ones planned or carried out by two terrorist groups — one of them allegedly connected to al Qaeda.
Police put the death toll at 44, but hospital officials said 46 had died. At least 115 people were wounded.
Hours later, nine mine detonators were found on a railway track on a major line 85 kilometers (about 50 miles) north of Mumbai at Kafara, said Chhagan Bhujbal, provincial home minister.
The detonators were planted on a line to the city of Nashik, where a major Hindu festival is under way through Wednesday.
Provincial officials said they had no suspects and there was no claim of responsibility for planting the detonators.
In Mumbai, both bombs were inside the trunks of taxi cabs, police said.
Both bombs were inside the trunks of taxi cabs, police said. One of the bombs blew up near the colonial-era Gateway to India monument. The second bomb went off close to the Hindu Temple of Mumbadevi.
No-one has claimed responsibility for the explosions.
Police said they had received several leads from the driver of one of the taxis who, they said, was apparently working in league with his passenger, who was carrying a bomb.
Indian Internal Security Minister L.K. Advani said that while it is too early to say for certain who is behind the attacks, the blasts had the hallmarks of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and the Kashmiri separatist group Lashkar-e-Toiba.
India shut down the SIMI on September 28, 2001, just shortly after the September 11 attacks in New York and Washington, accusing it of being linked to the al Qaeda terrorist network.
The offices of the group were padlocked and its leaders were taken into custody by Indian authorities.
Lashkar-e-Toiba, or the Army of the Pure, has been accused by India of carrying out terror attacks in Indian-controlled Kashmir. India has accused Pakistan of backing the group, a charge Pakistan denies.
In Islamabad, Pakistan, a Pakistani government spokesman condemned the bombings.
“We condemn all acts of terrorism and I think such wanton targeting of civilians should be condemned in the strongest possible terms,” said spokesman Masood Khan, speaking at a regular news briefing. (Full story)

Security forces in the city have been on high alert because of a series of bomb explosions across the Mumbai metropolitan area over the past several months.
The most recent bus bombing took place on July 29, killing four people on board a packed commuter bus in the commercial heart of the city.
Officials say they fear an upswing in tensions between Hindus and Muslims in the area because of the similarity of the recent explosions to a series of explosions blamed on Islamic militants a decade ago, in which more than 250 were killed.
Those blasts were blamed on underworld gangs seeking to avenge Muslim deaths during Hindu-Muslim riots following the destruction of a mosque in the holy city of Ayodhya in northern India by a Hindu mob. (History of violence)
Monday’s explosions follow the release of an archeological report into the mosque site. Hindus claim the Islamic mosque was built on a holy Hindu site. But Muslims dispute this and claim the site themselves.
Details from the highly anticipated report emerged on Monday, saying that experts found that an ancient structure did in fact exist on the disputed site but there was fierce disagreement about whether it was a Hindu temple. (Full story)
Police in Mumbai have initially ruled out a link between the explosions and the report.
In Washington, the U.S. State Department said Secretary of State Colin Powell had telephoned Indian Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh to discuss the bombings.

August 21, 2003 — Democratic presidential candidate Al Sharpton stiffed a Manhattan travel agency out of almost $200,000 after giving them “fraudulent credit-card information,” the agency says in a lawsuit.
Alpha International Travel Agency claims they took care of travel for Sharpton and his National Action Network between May 1, 2001, and Aug. 3, 2002 - before his presidential campaign officially launched - and set them up with “airline tickets and hotel services.”
In that time, Sharpton and the NAN ran up a $193,131.97 bill. They’ve refused to pay it, and so far the only thing they have given Alpha is the bogus card information, the suit says.
“When Sharpton provided this false and misleading information . . . [he] knew that the information was false and that [Alpha] would rely upon such false information,” the suit says.
Sharpton’s lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein, said it’s Alpha that’s trying to pull a fast one on his client - and he plans to lodge a criminal complaint against them.
Rubenstein claims the only credit wrongdoing came from the agency, when they tried to put the National Action Network’s charges on Sharpton’s personal card.
“It’s outrageous they would use it because they never had any permission to,” Rubenstein said, adding that he was going to ask the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office to file a complaint against Alpha for “their fraudulent attempt to bill” Sharpton personally.
He also questioned how they got the card number, because it “wasn’t in existence” when they made their deal with Alpha.
He said the only reason the bill was never paid was because Alpha sent them the tab in one lump sum, with no itemizations of who and what the expenses were for.
We’ve “been attempting to get an itemization of this bill to resolve this matter but they’ve never provided us with one,” Rubenstein said.
Alpha president Colin Hall said that’s nonsense. “They have everything and they’ve had it for months,” he said, adding he got the credit card number from Sharpton himself and his agency has done nothing improper. He also said they have a paper trail that proves the National Action Network got the bills.
While not as rotund as he used to be, Sharpton does still like to live large. His latest campaign filings reveal expenditures at several swanky hotels, including the Delano Hotel in Miami, the Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons hotels in Washington, D.C., as well as meals at the posh Four Seasons hotel in New York.

August 13, 2003 — ARNOLD Schwarzenegger is terminating his political opponents not just in the polls but in the press - and some of them are trying to even up the odds. On Saturday, the day Schwarzenegger filed the paperwork for his gubernatorial run, bystanders noticed rival candidate Arianna Huffington waiting in her car for hours outside the Los Angeles County registrar’s office. “She sat there and camped out, and as soon as Arnold’s caravan pulled up, she hopped out of the car and got into the melee,” says our spy. Huffington was able to get her picture taken and share the limelight, but while her rep admits that was the intention, he claims she only waited 15 minutes. Meanwhile, although Gov. Gray Davis criticized Schwarzenegger for announcing his candidacy on Jay Leno’s “Tonight Show,” insiders tell us Davis secretly called Leno and asked to appear on the program himself. “The governor was turned down - and he is not happy about it,” says our source. Leno’s reps did not return calls.

NEW YORK (CNN) — Former Vice President Al Gore on Thursday lambasted the Bush administration for its handling of the war in Iraq, the economy and the environment, accusing the president of giving short shrift to “basic honesty.”
“I’m not going to join them,” he said, “but later in the political cycle I will endorse one of them because I believe we must stand for a future in which the United States will again be feared only by our enemies; in which our country will again lead the effort to create an international order based on the rule of law; a nation which upholds fundamental rights even for those it believes to be captured enemies; a nation whose financial house is in order … a republic once again comfortable that its chief executive knows the limits as well as the powers of the presidency.”
I think what Gore is really saying is that he is not gonig to run, he’ll endorse someone that will get something done, and then when the economy looks like it is shapping up, Gore will run for president and take credit for someone eles work. Why is this man still speaking? Why does he continually bash Bush?(why would you bash bush in the first place
) Is it because he is still holding a grudge agaisnt him? I think the answer to that is a resounding YES. Here’s my message to you Gore: Shut your trap you walking tree. Your boring, your issues are boring, and your beating them like a dead horse. Either do something about it , or shut up. Like Arnold says “Stop it, Stop Whining.”

Bankrupt brawler

Troubled boxing champ Mike Tyson, once estimated to be worth at least $US300 ($463.82) million, has filed for bankruptcy in an attempt to bring some order to his finances, his lawyer said today.
Tyson, currently facing assault and disorderly conduct charges stemming from a scuffle in a Brooklyn hotel in June, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in US Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan, according to his attorney Debra Grassgreen.
The one-time heavyweight boxing champion - who served three years in prison in the mid-1990s on a rape conviction and was suspended from professional boxing for biting the ears of heavyweight boxer Evander Holyfield during a 1997 bout - opted for bankruptcy after years of financial mismanagement and free spending habits that saw him squander hundreds of millions of dollars in earnings.
According to media reports, Tyson amassed and spent between $US300 million ($463.82 million) and $US500 million ($773.04 million).
“As a professional fighter, who relied on others to manage his affairs, he discovered that his debts far exceeded his assets,” today’s New York Post quoted Grassgreen as saying.
“Now, he has taken the lead in bringing order to his financial affairs.”
Tyson, nicknamed “Iron Mike,” also blames ring promoter Don King for his financial ills, the Post said.
Tyson has a $US100 million ($154.61 million) lawsuit pending against King that goes to trial in September, claiming King cheated him out of millions after he got out of prison in 1995 and went back to fighting for the promoter.
Tyson’s financial outlook has been deteriorating for some time and media reports have speculated for over a year that he would have to file for bankruptcy due to mounting legal fees and lavish spending on a series of homes and cars as well as clothing, jewellery and even pets such as pigeons, cats and tigers.
In 2002 he claimed lack of funds prevented him from paying estranged wife Monica Turner Tyson $US10 million ($15.46 million) in a divorce settlement.
During the divorce proceedings it was reported that Tyson had spent $US9 million ($13.91 million) on legal fees alone from 1995 to 1997, as well as $US230,000 ($355,600) on pagers and cell phones, $US410,000 ($633,900) on a birthday party, $US8,100 ($12,500) for the care of his pet tigers and $US65,000 ($100,000) for limousine services alone.
Tyson has also alleged his ex-wife failed to send a promised multi-million dollar payment to the Internal Revenue Service and that Turner squandered millions on a lavish lifestyle.
